Speedy Hire roll-out streamlined finance and
reporting systems with Microsoft Dynamics AX
08 June 2007: Speedy Hire, the UK’s number one equipment
hire company, is working in partnership with IT Consultancy and
software solutions provider, Touchstone Group, to roll-out an
integrated Microsoft Hire, Financial accounting and Reporting
software solution across its UK Operation. Speedy’s 32 depots in
Scotland together with the local Scottish Head Office have now been
migrated onto the system but this deployment will eventually enable
Speedy Hire to consolidate all of its Hire, Financial Accounting
and Management reporting processes with in excess of 1,200 users on
one software platform and one database across the UK. In essence,
Speedy is underpinning its ‘One Speedy’ vision with state of the
art information systems.
Speedy Hire has a multi-site structure across
12 different companies, operating from over 350 depots throughout
the country. It has now grown to employ more than 3,500
people. John Bottoms, Chief Information Officer for Speedy
Hire, comments, “Prior to implementing Microsoft Dynamics AX, each
company within the Group had its own version of software which was
used mainly as an invoicing engine for hire contracts. This meant
12 different databases were maintained independently of each other
with customers receiving multiple invoices from different Speedy
companies.”
Bottoms continues, “We specified that the new
system had to allow all our trading entities to do business, and to
be accountable, as individual entities. However, it was of key
importance that our customers and suppliers can deal with ‘One
Speedy’ if they so wish. The sophisticated Microsoft Dynamics AX
Software allows us to achieve both objectives. As the roll-out
progresses, the single database concept will also provide improved
performance indicators thus giving a better gauge of Group
effectiveness as we continue to grow.”
Bottoms adds, “Speedy Scotland is the first
step in the roll-out implementation program which will result in
all Speedy companies using a one database solution across the
Group. Touchstone Group has been extremely responsive from the
initial consultation right through to the implementation and
‘go-live’ of the new systems and, as a result, we have built up a
strong working relationship which will drive the project to
completion.”
