How To: Create Product Views in Vision (Q&A)
Product Views allow Administrators to specify
the data items that are displayed (or hidden) in the Selection List
of the Query definition form. There are instances when a
comprehensive list of data items is unnecessary and confusing.
Culling the list makes it easier for Vision Query & Analysis
users to locate data items to output. Rarely accessed data items
can be suppressed.
By default, drilling down on a cell in a
Vision Executive report the Selection list from which to specify
the drill path will have all the fields from the Ledger Table.

Let’s assume that we have a group of users
that will never want to access all of these fields. They will only
ever be interested in selecting or manipulating data by conversion
codes and several of the analysis codes. We can specify for them to
have a reduced selection list detailing these items.
We can create a Product View for these users and assign it to
these users.
This is done via Setup.
Start --> Programs --> Vision -->
Setup
or Start --> Programs --> Infor Performance Management
--> Setup
(Depending on version)
Log in as the ‘system’ user.
Users are assigned to a Profile.
The user ‘Guest’ is a member of the Profile ‘Guest’. Let’s assume
he is one of the group of users we want to restrict the selection
list for.
We would first create a new User Profile
Group.
Click Profile and Add.
Enter a code and description for the new Profile

Select the 'Product Views' tab, and press the 'Maintenance'
button
This will display all existing Product Views (if any)
Press the 'New' button to create a new Product View

Click on Definable Settings.
Select the radio button ‘Include’ and tick the fields the user
group will be able to see.

Close this.
Assign the Product View to the User Profile.

Assign the Profile Code to the user
‘Guest’

Log back into Executive at the user ‘Guest’
and extract report again and select Drilldown.
The selection list will now be restricted to just the options that
were selected.
